IT’S ALL ABOUT KIDS, Helping hundreds of very poor kids. Beverly Causey & Bob Pelletier updated the club on the progress St. Christopher’s Children in partnership with Beverly’s Coats For Kids in reaching needy children in the county. In the 7 days since the meeting, the number has grown from 520 to 540, reaching more children than any other charity in the county. Hundreds of coats, some new, others like new have been cleaned and distributed to social service agencies for their children. But one short story about a request early this week. An elementary school nurse at Pleasantville elementary school called asking for help for two small twin boys. The toes of their shoes were cut off so they could put their feet in them...no stockings, no underwear, no coat to protect them against the cold weather…...Could St. Christopher’s Children help them? The next day new shoes, socks, jeans, shirts, tee shirts, underwear and a warm winter jacket were delivered to a school nurse who cried and thanked our angels. Our Pawleys Island Rotary Club is where St. Christopher’s began. In another case, within the last week, a school nurse and another agency called to inquire if we could help with a |

boy who’s teeth so protruded from his mouth that all the other children teased him about his appearance. He was going to school in a separate bus to avoid the cruel harassment. The boy will be in the orthodontist’s office next week. That is what St. Christopher’s Children is doing in your behalf for our children. There are so many stories we could relate about kids in homes with no running water & much more and others with cords holding their pants up. St. Christopher’s opens all board meetings with a prayer for guidance to help all of these “Who are the least of those among us.” |
